In Memory of Annette
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You must travel your road
like there has never been
another before you,
and each mountain you climb
will be easier if you leave
the last one behind you.
Let each river you cross
cleanse and quench you,
for you can only drown
in your own fears,
or lose the road
in blinding tears.
Travel that road
like there will never be
another before you.
Inspect it and feel it
every inch of the way.
It's a road
you should know.
For all of its
beauty and struggle,
its mountains and valleys
are made from your mind ~
your spirit ~
your soul.
Thank you, Annette, for the love, laughter, songs and drumming you shared with us. We miss you.
My friend Annette died in a head on car crash. I find it beautiful, poignant and ironic that this was her favorite poem. I forgot to write down the name of the poet who wrote this.... if anyone who reads this knows the author's name, please send it to me and I will give him proper credit.
My Song for Annette
This is an Irish Blessing which has a beautiful tune to sing and a Dance of Universal Peace created to go with it. Whenever I sing and dance this song, I will think of you, Annette......
May the road rise with you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall soft upon your fields
And till we meet again,
May God hold you
in the hollow of Her hand.
