What do Essential Oils have to do with Mayan Astrology?
I am
researching Mayan studies and aromatherapy to do a presentation for a group of
gifted 5th grade students. I am very intrigued with your knowledge shown in your
website of creating essential oil blends in unity with Mayan readings. Can
you tell me more information to share with the students and how the two pieces
fit together????

No
easy questions, eh? LOL! Um... where to begin....
I would start by explaining to the kids that everything is, in essence, energy.
If you split an atom, you get light. Therefore, all substance in the world,
whether it is a plant, or a human cell, or a cat's whisker, or a rock, is energy
which is vibrating at different rates of speed, because everything that exists
is made of up atoms. The various frequencies of vibration determine how that
energy forms into physical matter. Higher frequencies of atomic motion produce
more high speed forms of life, like people and animals, and slower frequencies
produce things which hardly move at all, like rocks and metals, and other things
which do not seem to be "alive" such as plastics or other man-made
materials.
Likewise, non-physical things like thoughts and intentions are also energy. They
are vibrating at even higher frequencies than physical objects and have not yet
manifested into physical forms. But they are the "beginnings" of
manifestation. If we want to create something, we have to first imagine it --
create it in our minds -- and from that beginning of thought or intention we
learn how to create that thing in physical form, or how to create that
experience in our lives.
The plant kingdom, in particular, seems to have been created to work with humans
(and animals) in a healing and nourishing way. Each plant has a specific job to
do -- specific nutrients or healing properties or actions which affect our
consciousness -- or all of the above. Plants are eaten or otherwise used for
food and/or medicinal uses. Sometimes the "active ingredient" is
extracted and used in the medicine, or the plant is used whole for food or in an
herbal remedy for healing. Sometimes the "life blood" of the plant --
the essential oil -- is extracted and used for
healing, for affecting changes in our mental or emotional state, for healing of
our bodies, or is used as a perfume or aftershave lotion would be, simply for
the enjoyment of smelling wonderful. Each plant has a specific frequency which
causes it to have the particular effects and benefits that it has to share with
us. Many medicines and herbal remedies and essential oils and foods can affect
how we feel and think emotionally and mentally, as well as how we feel
physically. Each plant has a specific frequency and "intention."
Likewise the Tribes and Tones of Mayan Astrology each have a specific frequency
and intention. Just as in music, a specific musical note or tone vibrates at a
specific frequency, so to do our intentions. It is believed by many people that
before we are born we choose the type of life we want to create -- we can choose
or INTEND that we want to do a particular type of service, or to have a
particular type of experience in our lives. We have a mission or purpose that we
want to pursue.
The Tribes of Mayan Astrology are groups of people who have similar intentions for the type of mission or purpose they want to accomplish in their lives. The Tones involve the use of the energies which we have, and the ways in which we can use this energy, in order to accomplish our purpose or mission.
I will use the White Dog Tribe as an example because unconditional love might be an easier concept to explain to a group of 10 year olds than some of the focuses of the other tribes. Love is something we are all after, and have some experience of, hopefully....
People
in the White Dog tribe have chosen to learn to become more unconditionally
loving. A White Dog person who is
White Magnetic (Tone One) Dog would be "unifying" or bringing people
and other things together in order to experience the ability to be
unconditionally loving. A White Dog person who is a White Spectral (Tone Eleven)
Dog would be "dissolving" or eliminating what is NOT loving from his
or her experience in order to move more into an experience of unconditional
love.
In their capacity as nourishing and healing agents and agents of change in our
mental and emotional states, plant materials, including essential oils, each
have a particular quality. Each one can help us to be more able to experience a
particular state of consciousness, such as (for instance) feeling
unconditionally loving. So different essential oils vibrate in frequencies which
are in alignment with the different Tribes and Tones, and therefore can be used
to help us to become better aligned with the intentions of our specific Tribe
and Tone.
If you have knowledge of music at all, you might explain something about how the
octaves of sound repeat over and over, at higher and higher frequencies in a
repeating pattern, until they are no longer able to be heard by human ears, but
still continue through higher and higher octaves until the only manifestation is
light.... I don't know how to explain this well, but I understand it
energetically. Just as the C above middle C is the "same" note
vibrating at a higher frequency, the frequencies of plants also vibrate at
frequencies which resonate with, or are in alignment with, the frequencies of
certain mental/emotional states. The experience of these mental and emotional
states are actually the intentions of the various Tribes and Tones.
A Mayan expression meaning “I am another yourself,” – the Mayan version of Namaste!
