Glenn-Friend Gifts

My friend Glenn passed away unexpectedly last December....

A few months before that, he had given me a bag of assorted glass beads. I couldn't decide what to do with them for awhile, because there were very few matching beads. But finally I began sorting them into groups of related colors, and I found that I liked the combinations of beads, even though they didn't match.

Glenn was an artistic person who enjoyed making things and giving them away as gifts. So in honor of Glenn's friendship and the gifts he had given me, I decided to make bracelets and earrings out of the beads and give them away as gifts.  I will offer them to his family and friends first, and if any are left over, I will offer them to my friends.

Because there were very few matching beads, none of these pieces are symmetrical. But I have chosen groups of beads for the earrings which will make two earrings of the same length, even if the beads are different. These pictures are approximately life-size. The earwires are gold plate over brass or silver plate over brass.

I believe the bracelets will all fit the average woman's wrist comfortably. Some are slightly longer than others, but the overall difference in length is less than 1/2 inch. I am about average height (5' 4 1/2") and about average bone structure. They are all comfortable on my wrist, with a little bit of difference in looseness.

4/11/2010: Most of the jewelry has now been given away to women I know who were friends or family members of Glenn's. There are two sets left..... I will give them to the first two people who ask for them.
